Company History
City Body Shop was established in 1958 by LaVerne Wishard when he was 37 years old. LaVerne worked at the Cory Street Body Shop for about 5 years in the early 50’s. He loved working on vehicles and grew curious about owning his own body shop.
When he originally opened City Body Shop, it was located at 329 South Court Street. He then moved it to 401 south Court Street when Collier Studebaker closed in Rockford. City Body Shop took over their old building.
In 1998, City Body Shop moved to its current location at 301 North Madison Street in Rockford, IL. Bill Wishard, the current owner of City Body Shop (LaVerne’s son) insists on leaving the Body Shop in Rockford because he loves the Rock River Valley area. His shop has a beautiful view of the Rock River and he admires the city for its strong family orientation and for its big city (small town) atmosphere.
